Cyrus Mistry: Former Tata Sons chairman and renowned industrialist Cyrus Mistry has died in a road accident. Cyrus Mistry was on his way to Mumbai from Surat city of Gujarat on Sunday afternoon. His Mercedes car collided with a divider near Palghar, Maharashtra. Four people, including Cyrus Mistry, in the car, were badly injured in the accident. At the same time, one other person, including former Tata Sons chairman Cyrus Mistry died on the spot, while two others were badly injured. The director of his company has confirmed his death.
Four people were in the car
Cyrus Mistry was returning to Mumbai from Gujarat in a Mercedes car at around 3.15 pm on Sunday. Apart from Cyrus Mistry, three other people in the car were Jehangir Dinshaw Pandole, Dr Anahita Pandole and Darius Pandole. It is being told that the Mercedes car was being driven by Jahangir Dinshaw Pandole’s wife, Anahita Pandole. The accident happened on the bridge over the Surya river near Palghar. It is being told that Dr Anahita Pandole is a gynecologist.
While Cyrus Mistry and Jehangir Pandole died on the spot in the accident, Anahita Pandole and Darius Pandole were badly injured and are being brought to Kandy Breach Hospital in Mumbai for proper treatment.
Cyrus Mistry, former chairman of Tata Sons
Born in 1968 in Ireland, Cyrus Mistry comes from a family of industrialists. He is the son of Pallonji Shapoorji Mistry, one of the most successful and powerful industrialists of Indian origin. Pallonji Mistry’s youngest son Cyrus Mistry joined the Tata Group in 2006. In 2012, Cyrus Mistry was appointed as the chairman of the Tata Group in place of Ratan Tata. However, he also remained in controversies in the Tata Group. He was removed from the post of chairman of Tata Group in 2016.
